Bettye Montgomery

Graveside services for Mrs. Bettye Mullen Montgomery, of McCarley will be held Tuesday, July 25,2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Richard Owens and Rev. Josh Ragan will officiate the services.

Mrs. Montgomery, 80 passed away July 21, 2023, at her home. She was born July 23, 1942. She attended JZ George High School. She was a housewife until she and her deceased husband bought Bussey’s Western Store in Greenwood. She was co-owner and operator of the store until she retired. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Montgomery is proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, William L. Montgomery, Jr, her parents Fred W. and Eddie Belle Mullen, brother in laws and sister-in-law, Charles J Montgomery Sr., Margaret Montgomery, James Howard, and Jack Bennett.

She is survived by her sons Billy (Marcie) Montgomery and Wally (Ann) Montgomery of McCarley; grandchildren Kala (Brock) Johnson of Mantee, Katy Lee Montgomery of Greenwood, Walt (Paige) Montgomery of Waynesboro, Cord (Mabry) Montgomery of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Emma Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, of Mantee, Freddie Montgomery, Mary Taylor Montgomery, and Fisher Montgomery of Waynesboro; sisters Peggy Howard of McCarley and
Shirley Bennett of McCarley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Niece Lee for her special care of Mrs. Montgomery.
