Barbara Bartlett Short, 95, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Indywood Glen personal care home in Greenwood. Private family graveside services were held Monday March 10, at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Dearman officiating.
Mrs. Short was born in Greenwood to Howard and Edna Bartlett. She was a 1947 graduate of Greenwood High School and a graduate of Millsaps College with a degree in math. A talented musician, Barbara played the flute in the Greenwood High School Band, the Millsaps College Band, and later played in the Greenwood Community Band. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active for many years and enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School. She was a talented seamstress, a member of Matinee Musicale and a member of the Greenwood Garden Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David B. Short. She is survived by her son Frank Short (Carol) of Greenwood and two grandsons, Dr. David Short (Tori) of San Antonio, TX and Collin Short (Meghan Foley) of Los Angeles, CA.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Greenwood or the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to offer a special word of thanks to the nurses, staff and her friends at Indywood Glen, the staff of Grace Hospice, and Dr. Kenny Hines.
