Aubrey Taylor Shaw, Sr., 81, passed away Sunday evening, May 12, 2024, at his home in Carroll County. Services are 2 P.M. Thursday, May 16 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment is Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Al Different will officiate. Visitation is from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the services.
Aubrey was born in Carroll County to J. D. and Marie Crawford Shaw. He lived in Itta Bena until he married then moved to Greenwood. He served in the United States Army prior to serving on the Greenwood Police Dept for 13 years. While serving, he received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year from the Greenwood Exchange Club. He later received his pilot license and flew as an ag pilot for Mac McNeer until retiring. He moved back to Carroll County in 1980 and remained there. He loved to hunt, fish and ride horses. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Big Cowboy”.
Aubrey was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Shaw and a sister, Martha Brown. He is survived by a son, Aubrey T. Shaw, Jr., of Carrollton; a daughter, Mellonie Robertson (Russ) of Black Hawk; brother, Johnny Shaw (Becky) of Carrollton; a sister, Sandra Holly (Jimmy) of Carrollton; grandchildren, Walker Lane Shaw, Hunter Huff, Taylor Shaw (Jocelyn), Russell Robertson, Jr., Morgan R. Taylor (Jeffrey); and great grandchildren, Rivers Taylor, Lilah Robertson, Levi Robertson and Jessie Shaw.
