Marvia Ann Gardner, 84, of Greenwood passed away on Thursday July 17, 2025, with her family by her side. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow in the Greenwood Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Bro. John Shackleford will officiate the services.
Ann was born in Webster County, Mississippi. Later her family moved to Isola Mississippi, where she graduated Isola High School. She continued her education at Mississippi Delta Community College with a degree in Nursing. She worked several years of her career in numerous hospitals, Kings Daughters in Greenville, Mississippi, Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, Mississippi, she also worked for the Mississippi Department of Health which she retired from in 2003. In her spare time, she worked at 3 different nursing homes as well.
Ann was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Baptist Nursing Fellowship, and Senior Citizens of Immanuel Baptist Church. In her spare time, she could be seen spending time with her grandkids and observing her flowers in the yard.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents Jefferson Davis Wells, Lucille Lovett Wells. She is also preceded by her brother Jeff L. Wells. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Billy J. Gardner of Greenwood, MS, her sons Billy “Bill” Julious Gardner Jr. of Sidon, Mississippi, and Michael Gardner of Greenwood, MS, and her daughter Judy Gardner Champ of McGehee, Arkansas. Ann also leaves behind 4 cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Champ Hooks, Jeffrey David Champ, Davis Benjamin Gardner, and Timothy Gardner, along with four great grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Steve Peeples, Bobby Box, William Tucker, Keith Conner, Brad Garrard, and Ronnie Bush. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons Jeffrey David Champ, Davis Benjamin Gardner, and Timothy Gardner.
