Anita “Nita” Parker Muir, 66, of Carrollton, MS, went home to Jesus on March 17, 2025, after a prolonged illness that she fought with courage and grace.
Born on March 31, 1958, in Shreveport, La., Nita is survived by her husband of 48 years, Andrew “Andy” Chris Muir; daughter, Suzanne Muir Wigley, and husband, Ryan Wigley, of Florence, MS; and her pride-and- joy, granddaughter Olivia, who adored her NeNe; sister, Janet Parker Boutwell (Kenneth) of Shreveport, LA; brother, Louis Parker of Louisville, MS; mother-in-law, Margie Muir; brother-in-law, Mark Muir; and sister-in-law, Carol Muir Bailey, all of Winona, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carol and Edward Parker, who taught her early on the importance of family.
With her easy laugh and soft-spoken voice, Nita loved cooking and hosting people for meals and was known for her artistic cakes for special occasions, including weddings. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains with Andy, gardening vegetables and raising flowers, making quilts and playing bunco. She kept a spotless house, mopping the floors every day. She liked to read and always had a book handy, even during recent hospital stays. Her beloved cockapoo, Max, was her devoted companion until the end, a comfort after the loss of her treasured cocker spaniel, Dakota.
She grew up in Shreveport, before her family settled in Winona, and graduated from Winona Academy. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winona, where she held leadership positions in Women in the Church, and was a longtime employee of CB&S Bank in Greenwood.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS, Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at First Presbyterian Church of Winona, with burial following at Winona Garden of Memory. Ther will also be a visitation one prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bailey, Justin Doler, Logan Martin, Trey Martin, David Pace and Jack Pace. Nita “fought the good fight and has entered into eternal life” (2 Timothy 4:7) and will be loved always by those she left behind.
