Allen Hammond Coleman, 73, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, at his home in Itta Bena. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home. Funeral services are Thursday, October 9th at First Baptist Church of Itta Bena with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ricky Wheat and Reverend Preston Kelly, Jr., will officiate the service. Interment is in the Itta Bena Cemetery.
Allen was born in Greenwood to Frank Hammond and Juanita Courtney Coleman and was a lifelong resident of Itta Bena. He joined his father in farming where he continued in the business for 25 years. After leaving the farming industry, he worked in the finance department of Viking Range Corporation for 10 years. Allen was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Itta Bena. He enjoyed the outdoors with his family and friends while hunting, water skiing, and camping.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank Lee Coleman and John Courtney Coleman. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Ellen Mae Bolton Coleman; a daughter, Margaret Juanita Coleman of Houston, Texas; a son, Jacob Allen Coleman (Sarah) of Houston, Texas; and two grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Coleman and John Allen Coleman. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda Sanders Coleman and Carolyn Crawford Coleman; and brother-in-law, Harold Bolton. He is also survived by his nephew, Frank Lee Coleman, Jr., his nieces, Leah Rose Coleman and Sherry Wylene Coleman, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Frank Lee Coleman, Jr., Travis Dunn, J. D. Brasel, Richie Fulgham, Daniel Carney, Carter Makamson, Brice Fulgham, and Wally Montgomery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Itta Bena, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Pillow Academy, or the charity of donor’s choice.
