Wilbur Clayton Goss, 77, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston, MS surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 12 at the North Park Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Tim Winters officiating and Robbie Wier and Dan Baggett as guest speakers. Interment will be in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.
Wilbur grew up in Greenwood and was a long time resident of the area. He was a natural athlete and played football, basketball and baseball at Mississippi Delta Community College. He worked for a number of years in sales for City Furniture, Firestone, and retired from Liberty National Insurance Company. He loved all kinds of sports: softball, golfing, bowling and fishing. He was a member of North Park Church of God of Prophecy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Clayton and Daisy Harper Goss and two sisters, Nancy Brunt and Dot Perkins.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maydean Aust Goss, a son; Clay Goss (Jerrika) of Greenwood, three daughters; Stephanie Franklin (Gerald) of Senatobia, Stacey Brocato (Sam) of Vicksburg and Kim O’Bryant (Byron) of Greenwood, a sister; Vickie Jones of Greenwood, a brother; Bobby Goss (Cynthia) of North Carrollton, 11 grandchildren; Clayton Goss, Carter Goss, Catherine Goss, Colton, Katelyn McCluskey, Erin Sutton, Joshua Sterling, Caleb Sterling, Seth Sterling, Alaina O’Bryant and Sara Neely O’Bryant and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Jones, Chris Goss, Bobby Goss Jr., Glenn Carpenter, Bob Grantham, Steve Hayes, Ken Holland, and John Bariola. Honorary Pallbearers are, Scott Carpenter, Brad Perkins, Timothy Hanagan. And Tommy Thompson
