Mildred Barry Obituary

Mildred Utroska Barry, 63, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, Thursday morning October 18, 2018.  Funeral services are 11 A.M. Saturday October 20 at North Greenwood Baptist Church with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery.  Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate.  Visitation is in the church parlor from 9:30-11 prior to the service.

Mildred was born in Greenwood to Frank Rae and Frances Horner Utroska and was a lifelong resident.  She graduated with honors from Pillow Academy in 1972 and was a member of the Lady Mustangs Basketball team that began the 100 game win streak her senior year.  She began working for Delta Electric Power Assn. in January 1973 where she was a long time dedicated employee who loved her job as a billing clerk and data entry operator.

Mildred was an avid 3.5 tennis player and played in several state tournaments and a few section tournaments.  She loved fishing, Walking, riding bikes and horses, working in her yard and mostly loved being outdoors. She had many great friends that she enjoyed sharing good times and always loved to laugh.  One of her greatest blessings is her granddaughter, Kendall.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Utroska, and brother, Michael Rae Utroska 

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Dana Barry Smith (Scott), a son, Daniel Allen Barry, a granddaughter Kendall Scott Smith all of Greenwood, three sisters, Evelyn Lowry (David) of Buford, GA, Linda Riley(Joe) of Ruston, LA, Martha Johnson (Craig) of Cleveland, MS, and her “other” special family, Blondean Therrell Minyard, Rita Therrell Horne, Anna Therrell Henderson and Myra Therrell Crenshaw.

The family wishes to thank her care giver Alvonya Matos.

Pallbearers will be, Daniel Barry, Ricky Denton, Craig Johnson, Joe Riley, Chris Utroska and Curtis Utroska.

Memorial may be made to the American Cancer society, Pink Heals Tour, North Greenwood Baptist Church, St. Jude or the charity of donor’s choice.
