Ronald Michael “Mike” Garrett, 65, passed away suddenly Friday, December 20, 2019 at his home in Cleveland, MS.  Funeral services are 1 P.M. Monday, December 23 at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home with interment in Magnolia Gardens cemetery in Paynes, MS.  Rev. Tony Fortenberry will officiate.  Visitation is from 11-1 Monday prior to the service.

Mike was born and raised in Philipp, MS, graduated from West Tallahatchie High School and attended Northwest MS Community College.  He had farmed the family farm in the 40 Mile Bend area until retiring.  After retiring he began reading meters and collecting payments for the Philipp and Minter City Water associations.  He became affectionately known as “The Water Man”. Mike was also the Voting Supervisor for Tallahatchie County.  

He was preceded in death by his wife; Melissa Spencer Garret, parents, Jimmy and Alpha Garrett, and two brothers, Jimmy Garrett and Charles Garrett.

Mike is survived by a son; Lucas Garrett of Cleveland, two daughters; Peyton Garrett of Brandon, Karen Watts (Lisa) of Greenwood, a grandson, Noah Watts of Greenwood, five sisters;   Loretta Osborne of Greenville, Sharan Bradford of Clinton, Patricia Pope of Naples, FL, Janice Foreman of Grenada, Sandra Long of Clinton, and his best friends; Gregg and Tina Carr.

Pallbearers will be James “Bubba” Hunter, Jr., Matt Long, Gary Sykes, Larry Earp,  Art Pennington, Scott Smith, Joe Caldero, and J. B. Willingham.  Gregg Carr will serve and an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ  08034.
