Clifton Randolph “Kip” Farrell, 88, passed away with his wife at his side at their home on December 21, 2018. Funeral services are 2 P.M. Thursday, December 27 at First United Methodist Church with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Brad Hodges, Rev. Glenn Seefeld and Rev. Dennis Gossett will officiate. Visitation is from 12:30 until service time at the church.
Kip was born in Greenwood to Wilson and Harriett “Nan” Norquist Farrell and was a lifelong resident. He had been an active member of First United Methodist Church until his health failed. He graduated from Greenwood High School. During the Korean War he was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, FL where he met Peggy, his wife of 64 years. They returned to Greenwood in 1954 where he worked for Bowman & Bowman. He later Co-founded MS-TN Transformers where he worked until his retirement in 2013.
Kip enjoyed many hobbies over the years. He was a pilot and also enjoyed building and flying model planes. He bowled and was an avid duck and deer hunter. His true passion, also enjoyed by Peggy, was golf. Near or far, hot or cold, rain or shine, you could find him at the course. “Atta Boy Kip!”
Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Clyde Farrell and brother Harold “Jug” Hemmer.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Clark Farrell, a daughter, Kimberly Murphey (Ray) of Ridgeland, two grandchildren; Lindsey Murphey of Ridgeland and Meagan Murphey of Gluckstadt and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Stone of Gluckstadt..
Pallbearers will be Mark Raby, Jon Barnwell, Mark Singleton, Donny Whitehead, Fred Hooper and Danny Hardin. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Floyd and Vernon Lehman.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
