Bettye Joyce (Henderson) Lamb

Bettye Joyce Henderson Westerfield Lamb, 76, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, December 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Funeral services are 12 noon Friday, December 21 at North Greenwood Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating.  Interment will be in Itta Bena Cemetery.  Visitation is from 10:30 until noon in the church parlor.

Bettye was born in Greenwood, MS to Emmett and Clyde Elsie Henderson.  She graduated from Leflore County High School and Draughan’s Business College.  She spent 31 years working for Long and Chambless during the week and 20 years working flea markets in Jackson, on the weekends.  She also kept books for Westerfield Plumbing for 23 years.

She was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church for many years.  Bettye enjoyed antiques, glassware, jewelry, flowers, birdwatching but most of all loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Lamb and her sister Elsie Henderson.  Survivors include; two sons, Tony Westerfield and his fiancé Lori Lott and Danny Westerfield and his wife Carol of Greenwood,  two sisters; Doris Henderson Justice of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Jane Henderson Stout (Louis) of Greenwood, five grandchildren; Kelly Crenshaw Jones (Lee) of Meridian, Jennifer Blair Bruce (Jeff), Anna Claire Campbell (Will),  Aubrey Westerfield (Sandy), and Robert Westerfield  all of Greenwood and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Earl Smith, Bobby Anderson, Edward Thompson, Brett Jones, Jackie Sims, Jr. and Terry Williams.  Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Jones and Henry Flautt.

Memorials may be made to North Greenwood Baptist Church or the charity of donor's choice.
