Greenwood, MS: Mrs. Ann M. Gray, 92, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018. A memorial service will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, September 27, at St. John’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Seefeld and Rev. Billy Ray Stonestreet officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4-6 P. M. at the home of Gay and Dennis Moss and from 12 -1 P.M. Thursday prior to the service at St. John’s UMC.
Ann was born in Memphis, TN, to Walter Oliver and Lucile Turner Miller and grew up in Belzoni and Minter City, MS. A longtime resident of Leflore County, she had worked for many years as a bank teller for the Bank of Greenwood (now Trustmark), was active in the Greenwood Garden Club and a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Emmaus Community and was instrumental in establishing the Kairos Women’s prison ministry at the Central MS Correctional facility in Pearl.
Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L. A. Gray, Jr. and a son, Charles Laney.
She is survived by two daughters, Gay Moss (Dennis) of Greenwood, Jeni Bond (Barry) of Oxford, three sons, Ronnie Gray (Elaine) of Jackson, Bob Laney (Elizabeth) of Marietta, GA, Loys “Buster” Gray (Lisa) of Miami, FL, a daughter-in-law, Susan Laney of Madison, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Laney, Wayne Laney, Michael Laney, Jake Wallace, Denny Moss, Russ Gray, Brent Gray, Cal Laney, Brad Laney, Luke Laney and Kevin Zhu.
